Every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn

Inspired by the belief that all children deserve an equal opportunity to learn, our mission is to provide volunteer tutoring and mentoring to Ravenswood students.

Nearly 200 All Students Matter volunteers work with talented teachers to support the success of students in the Ravenswood City School District serving communities in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.
Ravenswood schools are located in the heart of Silicon Valley and surrounded by some of the finest public schools in the United States. However, the latest statistics tell a different story about these communities:
  • 89% Low income
  • 53% English language learners
  • 82% Reading below grade level
  • 88% Math skills below grade level
ASM supports students facing these challenges. Each dedicated volunteer is a consistent, caring presence in the lives of these children, working weekly with the same teacher and students throughout the school year. Ravenswood teachers partner with our volunteers to help improve academic performance and social-emotional well being of the students.

Online tutoring

For the 2020-21 school year, ASM is offering its program fully online. ASM volunteers are partnering with classroom teachers each week to work with TK-8th grade students in Zoom breakout rooms and are also supporting students one-on-one, online outside of Zoom classroom time. For 2021-22 we hope to return to our traditional in-person tutoring model. We may also have a virtual option for tutoring outside of classroom time.

Our tutors focus on improving literacy skills and providing the social-emotional support which helps boost student self-confidence. By committing just 1 hour per week volunteers can make a big impact on student success! We would love to have you join us for the 2021-22 school year!
