New in 2021, guided by classroom teachers, volunteers help set up and run science labs weekly, enabling students to engage in hands-on exploration and application of concepts in science.
Jeanette has been volunteering in a second grade classroom for years and also serves on the ASM board of directors. As the daughter of two teachers, she knows that an excellent education can changes lives.
"I am especially excited that ASM is adding hands-on science as another way to support Ravenswood students. My mother is a retired science teacher and from my own experience I know how much science can open up a world of possibilities for children as they imagine their futures."
When reading with students, Jeanette finds that "...most of the students I tutor in reading want to read about science topics. So the addition of science support in the classroom will dovetail nicely with a topic that excites so many of our students and fosters a love of learning."
