Welcome to All Students Matter
|
Every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn
Inspired by the belief that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, nearly 200 All Students Matter volunteers work with teachers to support the success of students in the Ravenswood City School District serving communities in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.
In this school district, about 65% of the students are English learners, 89% are low income, and over 40% are in unstable housing or considered homeless. ASM supports students facing these challenges. Each dedicated volunteer is a consistent, caring presence in the lives of these children, working weekly in the same classroom with the same student throughout the school year.
Ravenswood teachers rely on our volunteers to help improve academic performance and social-emotional well being of the students. ASM is a key component of the district’s literacy intervention strategy.

All Students Matter provides three programs
In-classroom support |
Literacy intervention |
Mentoring book club |
Each teacher utilizes three to four volunteers at specified times each week, all school year, to assist students, one-on-one or in a small group, with reading, writing or math.
|
Guided by school literacy coaches, volunteers provide daily structured intervention to improve the literacy skills of selected students.
|
Volunteers assist in a 12-week program for selected students in each 5th grade classroom designed to foster growth, both academically and social-emotionally.

Thank you, All Students Matter volunteers, for your support and dedication to our students and instructional program! Your commitment is critical during this time as we reconfigure and redesign our elementary schools. Students and their families will either move to a new school community or welcome a new school community. Where our students attend, I guarantee you will be needed! The individual tutoring you provide to students makes a tremendous difference and will be instrumental to ensure the future success of every student. |
All Students Matter volunteers have become a part of our Willow Oaks family. They have integrated themselves to be part of every classroom. Some have even been with the same teacher for multiple years or have followed their students to the next grade level. Our students look forward to working with them weekly on their literacy, math, and social emotional skills. It is evident in the way our students perform that our volunteers make a difference. Their confidence and willingness to try comes from the attention our students receive from our volunteers. We are extremely grateful and thankful that All Students Matter have built a strong relationship with our school, students, and staff. |
Thank you
