Inspired by this belief, nearly 200 All Students Matter volunteers work with talented teachers to support the success of students in the Ravenswood City School District serving communities in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. Ravenswood schools are located in the heart of Silicon Valley and surrounded by some of the finest public schools in the United States. However, the latest statistics tell a different story about these communities:

ASM supports students facing these challenges. Each dedicated volunteer is a consistent, caring presence in the lives of these children, working weekly in the same classroom with the same students throughout the school year. Ravenswood teachers partner with our volunteers to help improve academic performance and social-emotional well being of the students.
- 89% Low income
- 60% English language learners
- Over 80% Reading below grade level
- 88% Math skills below grade level
- Over 40% Homeless or lack control over their housing

We provide three programs
In-classroom supportTeachers utilize volunteers to assist students, one-on-one or in a small group, with reading, writing or math every week during the school year.

Literacy intervention programGuided by school literacy coaches, volunteers provide daily structured intervention to improve the literacy skills of selected students every week during the school year.

Mentoring book clubIn each 5th grade classroom, volunteers assist in a 12-week program for selected students designed to foster academic and social-emotional growth.
